The LOBA 2024 in Mannheim

The LOBA 2024 in Mannheim

The LOBA has been invited to Mannheim for the first time. Six 2024 LOBA selections are being exhibited at the Reiss Engelhorn Museum’s Zephyr – Space for Photography.

The preparations for LOBA 2025 are well underway, but Mannheim is offering visitors another chance to enjoy an exhibition dedicated to the 2024 edition of LOBA. The foyer at the Zephyr is presenting both winning series from last year: Davide Monteleone and Maria Guțu as well as selections from the shortlisted series by Adriana Loureiro Fernández, Lucas Lenci, Ingmar Björn Nolting and Etinosa Yvonne.

With the opening on April 9 and running for a number of weeks, the Reiss Engelhorn Museum was providing visitors with a unique opportunity to explore three photography displays under one same roof. In addition to the presentation of the Leica Oskar Barnack Award, the following exhibitions were also featured at C4, 12 in Mannheim: Sachlich neu. Photographs by August Sander, Albert Renger-Patzsch & Robert Häusser (until April 27) and Gabriele Galimberti: In Her Kitchen (until July 6)

The new collaboration between the Reiss Engelhorn Museum’s Zephyr – Space for Photography and Leica is marked by two anniversaries: in 2025, Leica celebrates the 100th anniversary of the serial production of the Leica I camera, while the Mannheim Kunsthalle (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art) pays tribute to the epoch-defining New Objectivity art movement, with a major reconstruction of the legendary exhibition in 1925.
